Our dear friend Jo is needing support with legal fees and other financial burdens due to leaving their abusive relationship. Their ex partner tried to gain custody of Frank, Jo's cat, which Jo adopted previous to the relationship. While the judge acknowledged Jo as Frank's rightful owner, Jo now owes their ex partner $500, as that partner had contributed financially to Frank's care. We are also trying to support Jo in maintaining secure housing. They were previously being supported financially through the Sexual and Relationship Violence Resource program at PSU. Due to the current government, the grant funding has run out for September and is potentially not coming back in the future. Additionally, Jo is having to take leave from work as a Resident Advocate for those experiencing houselessness. Jo is taking time away to make sure they are not impaired due to their PTSD and the emotional intensity of their job.
