Jill and Gabe need your help!

Dear Friends…..
  • I never thought I would be in this position to ask for any help in my life, but it has come to the point where we are running out of options and I didn’t know where else to turn. Please do not judge me for reaching out for my daughter and grandson as none of us know when the bottom can fall out on us. If you cannot help I ask that you keep Jill and Gabe in your prayers.
  • My daughter Jill and her son Gabe moved back to Pittsburgh in September from Cincinnati Ohio where they had been living for the past 3 1/2 years along with her husband and Gabe’s dad. The family moved down there due to a job change.
  • Pretty much in March of 2023 Gabe was diagnosed with non-verbal Autism. It was devastating news for Gabe’s mom and dad and instead of helping each other through it as married couples should do, the opposite happened and they only grew further apart. Due to the overwhelming stress in the home and an unhealthy situation for Gabe to be around, it was decided that they leave and come back to Pittsburgh.
  • Her and Gabe found an apartment in the Mt Lebanon school district where they both are very content there. It is only a one bedroom apartment but Gabe has his own room and my daughter has a pull out couch in the living room. For now it’s all she can afford but it works.
  • She knew that things were not going to be easy and she has accepted that but since she’s been back everything has happened.
  • She initially lost heat in her 2012 Jeep Liberty. To be honest she drove it for a couple months like that because neither one of us had the money to get it in the garage to be looked at. On the really cold days she used my Jeep. In February she took it in to be looked at and was told she blew the head casket. There was already 120,000 miles on it and neither one of us could afford to put a new transmission in it so for 2-3 months her and I shared my vehicle. Finally in May she purchased a used vehicle and now has a car payment and her car insurance was increased by 100 dollars because she now has full coverage.
  • I try to help her as much as I can but I had to go PRN at my job because I am watching Gabe for her. So things have been really crazy for her. She struggles every month just to pay her rent and put food on the table for her and Gabe. My family has helped her with attorney fees as she is now going through a divorce. Every time anything is presented to her husband as part of the divorce agreement he disagrees with what they are presenting. This is costing more money and time and just dragging things out. This has been very stressful for her.
  • To make things worse Gabe has decided since May that he doesn’t want to go to school anymore. He has been going to Pathfinders since March. He started late in the year because he had to be put on a waiting list. So he missed almost the whole month of May. Regardless if it is myself or my daughter getting him ready for school he starts carrying on and crying. He will take his shoes off of his feet and put them back on the shelf. It’s very heart breaking to go thru this with him. It has already been decided that he will repeat preschool starting in August since he started late this year and missed most of May. He is enrolled in summer school which is only two days a week but he has missed all those days thus far as well. There was a meeting today with the school administrators for some guidance and direction to this on going issue.
  • Adding to everything that has been going on, their home in Ohio has been on the market since December. It is a very nice home with almost an acre of fenced in yard. They have had 3 offers on the home but the county has told them that their septic system is not up to standard. When they purchased the home 4 years ago the septic was fine and they never had any issues with it while they lived there. Jill was depending on money from the sale of the house to help her out with whatever she needed but that has not happened either. She does work 30 hours a week at Macys and trying to get her hours increased to 40.
  • She has not received any child support as this is all held up in the courts as we speak. We are hoping very soon she receives some money.
  • I am asking whoever is reading this if you can please help in some small way. A couple of you have already reached out to me and for that I am truly blessed for ur thoughtfulness!!
  • Jill is behind in her rent and we are grasping at straws to get her rent current. The realtor has been very understanding to the situation but they will not wait forever for their money. Her and Gabe need a roof over their head and for now this is stability for Gabe. With autism these kids have to have stability with few changes as they do not tolerate many changes.
  • I thank you, Jill and Gabe thank you!
  • Please help them lessen the burden!
