My name is Jessie Whisman. I’m a mom of four beautiful kids, and I am currently pregnant with my fifth baby, due in May. This is not easy to write, but I am asking for help because I am trying to get my children — and myself — to a safe and stable place. I am a survivor of domestic violence. After a lot of fear and difficult decisions, I am choosing safety for my family. I had been relying on my husband’s income, and now I find myself close to homelessness as I try to start over on my own.
