My name is Jessica. I am 54 and have been disabled for some time due to breaking my neck when I was in my 20s.

I got married here in Las Vegas in 2012 to a sailor. I have an adult autistic daughter named Madison that still lives with us. She can't fully function out there in this world yet. She has also been a nurse. My husband retired from the Navy, we came out here, and then my health took a turn. At first, it was just a 4-level fusion from occipital to C4. Then I came to Vegas to find I was unstable at C4, and the vertebrae below just dominoed. Three fusions in total. I wore a halo in 1997. And now in 2026, fused from occipital to T2. I've only been in Vegas for 4 years and had 4 surgeries. One caused the next one, and the next one, and so on. Every possible complication you could think of. My last surgery was just this last April 2nd to finally close a huge wound on my back that started as a seroma but wouldn't heal even with visiting nurses.

Three weeks after this last surgery, my husband of 14 years slapped divorce papers on me out of nowhere. As sick as I am, he just didn't want me anymore. My living situation is complicated. It's his house, and he isn't throwing me out (yet), but I am oxygen-dependent and can barely walk to the restroom without getting winded. My wound is still having trouble even after the April 2nd surgery. I am very tall and very underweight due to surgeries and now the stress. I am about 110 pounds.

I am safe, but as you can imagine, completely devastated and feel gutted. He has all the money and power. I don't have the resources or, frankly, the strength to move out. I need help to be able to get a place for my daughter and me. I am safe, and there is no danger. I got sick, couldn't get better, and he resented me for it. I started this GoFundMe hoping for a miracle. A miracle that someone can help me get out of this situation. I need help to get through this.
