We all hit bumps in life. We’ve all had moments when something unexpected throws everything off balance. But when those bumps start piling up, even the strongest among us can feel overwhelmed, anxious, and struggling to sleep.

Jesse and Laura Van Divier are two of the best humans I know. They are dedicated teachers at Legend High School and active, generous members of their church community. This should be an exciting and joyful time for them as they prepare to welcome a new little Van Divier any day now.

Unfortunately, life has thrown them not one challenge, but two.

First, mold was discovered in their kitchen. They are currently living in the middle of demolition and construction, without a fully functioning kitchen. Homeowners know how stressful and costly this kind of situation can be.

On top of that, Laura’s maternity leave will not cover the remainder of the school year. This means the Van Diviers will be without at least one month of her income. Under normal circumstances, this would be difficult but manageable. But paired with unexpected home repairs, it’s simply too much for one family to shoulder at once.

If you know Jesse and Laura, you know they would never ask for help themselves. Most of you reading this likely had no idea what they’ve been dealing with behind the scenes. So I’m asking on their behalf.

I know it’s a busy and expensive time of year, and please—do not give if you are not in a position to do so. But if you can support this wonderful couple and their growing family, your generosity would mean more than you know.
