I am Jerry Ross, an artist (painter) who, having reached the age of 81, am preparing a legacy retrospective exhibit for June-July in 2026 to be held either in Eugene, OR or in Milan, Italy where I have work in a permanent collection and where I won a gold medal award in a painting competition a few years back. I will need funds to ship a large container of works to Italy as well as pay duties required for customs. I will need to rent an appopriate space and pay for advertising. The final location will be determined by whichever opportunities arise for an appropriate exhibit space. My goal is to be able to do this exhibit in 2026. I have been an artist since childhood, studied in Buffalo, NY at the Albright Art School and under Anthony Sisti. I have had numerous exhibits in Italy: Rome, Milan, Bologna, Florence, Terni, and Loiano ( and nearby Livergnano). I call my painting style "American verismo" because it is my ("American") version of painting ideas of the Florentine group called the I Macchiaioli that emphasized the sketch and "non-finito" (not over working) in painting. Their subjects were drawn from daily life and activities, a kind of loose brush realism informed politically and spiritually by the Risorgimento. After many years of political and arts activism, this legacy, retrospective exhibit will allow me to present a range of works that will be comprehensive of my career and work over many decades.
