Support Jenny's Fight for Health Coverage

Hi, my name is Jenny. I am looking for help to keep my health insurance through COBRA for myself and my daughter for June and July. I found out last week, after being suspended without pay for a month, that I lost my job after being sick. This was quite a blow after trying to work the last 4 years with heart rhythm issues and no real answers. I finally found a cardiologist that thinks he can help with my condition and now the loss of my good health insurance is standing in my way. My employer backdated my termination date to May 29th and retroactively cancelled my health insurance effective that day.

I am trying to raise enough money to be able to pay the backdated COBRA insurance for my daughter and myself. Otherwise, I will be responsible for any medical bills that we incurred from May 29th forward. I have many trips to different medical specialists and to the hospital every month due to what the doctors think is some type of autoimmune disease that causes autonomic dysfunction (which basically means my body can not regulate my blood pressure, pulse and temperature on its own), but no one can figure it out yet. So, I had a lot of appointments and testing that I will be responsible for since I will be responsible for everything insurance already paid for at full cost.

I'm honestly very embarrassed to ask for help, but I don't know what else to do at this point. Coming up with over $3000 to pay backdated insurance costs is nowhere feasible for me. I appreciate you taking the time to read our story and any help you can give.
