My name is Kaiden Reid and I am raising funds to support the both the Jamaica Christian School for the Deaf (JCSD) and surrounding community of Montego Bay after the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa. My Auntie Marcia, is the lead administrator and deeply involved with the school, through her we have seen firsthand the damage and the urgent need for rebuilding. My family living in the Montego Bay community on Barnet lane have deep roots in the community over generations. They have also seen firsthand how the storm has affected the lives of those living in the community.

The Jamaica Christian School for the Deaf, located in St. James, Jamaica, provides a home, education, spiritual guidance, and emotional support for students ages 2–20 who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Many students live on campus Monday–Friday, receiving not just schooling, but meals, care, and a safe environment.

Nearly 90% of the school’s operating costs come from donations, making community support essential for their survival.

The storm damaged key parts of the school’s campus — including classrooms, dormitory spaces, roofs, and essential supplies.

The impact did not stop at the school.

The community where my family has lived for generations — a place deeply rooted in history, culture, and connection — also suffered major destruction. Homes were damaged, essential items were lost, and many families are struggling to recover. As my family is deeply embedded in this community they are doing their best to rebuild as much as they can.

This fundraiser aims to support both:

1. The Jamaica Christian School for the Deaf

2. The longstanding community in Montego Bay where my family lives

I will be traveling to Jamaica in December

to bring physical supplies, provide hands-on assistance and support.

This fundraiser is NOT for my trip — 100% of funds go to the school, the students, and the community.

I will do my best to post updates, and photos, so everyone can see exactly how their contributions are used.
