Support Jay's Recovery from a Double Lung Transplant

Donation protected
God is miraculous and the UVA transplant team is amazing. Jay has been released from the hospital!! So now begins his long continued recovery. Jay will have to stay near the hospital for the next several months for his many weekly doctor and lab visits. Jay and Linda could never have gotten this far without your love and support. Your financial gifts have really taken a burden off both of them while they focus on Jay and his recovery. Your prayers have strengthened them and helped them through these first scary days. On behalf of Jay and Linda our family thanks you so much. We are incredibly grateful to all of you.

*** No more O2 ***
Today was such a big day. Jay had his oxygen turned off. And then he went on a few walks around the floor. He is doing so well and we are so thankful and grateful to God and to all of you for your prayers and support. Jay can’t wait to see what tomorrow holds. He still has several tubes/drains/fluid hookups but he is improving at such remarkable speed! This morning his PT and OT both said that he was a poster child for how great this whole process can go.

This is a picture of our baby brother, son, father, and husband, Jay. It’s a picture of him actually sitting up in a chair about 36 hours after having a double lung transplant. Jay had a terrible lung disease (that possibly took our father’s life at the age of 54 in 1993). Today, he has a new pair of lungs thanks to God and a donor that had no idea what their gift would mean to our family. Right now, Linda is in Charlottesville supporting Jay and his recovery, which will be a months-long process.

Jay and Linda have done a great job preparing for this moment, but they could really use a little financial help getting through the next couple of months. For about the next three months, Jay will have to stay very close to UVA Medical Center, and Linda will be here with him as his main support (he cannot be left alone for at least three months), and she won’t be able to travel back and forth to her job 150 miles away. Linda has saved up leave, but it won’t be enough to carry them through the entire care process.

Although our family is helping as much as possible, we would appreciate your prayers and support for Jay and Linda during this time in their lives. Thank you on behalf of Linda and Jay and the entire Cloud Family.
