Give Jaxon the Freedom to Explore Outdoors
Donation protected
I am fundraising for my son Jaxon. Jaxon has Cerebral Palsy and is mostly bound to a wheelchair besides some very short distance walks in a walker. It has always been my goal to include Jaxon in everything we do as a family. Whether that was going for a hike on a camping trip or walks around town. It has been a constant challenge finding ways to be able to allow Jaxon to be independent when it comes to mobility. Unfortunately, we live in a world where there are plenty of mobility options for able-bodied individuals but when it comes to adaptive mobility options, the prices are astronomical and they're usually not as intuitive.
For the past couple of years, I've tried different ways of getting Jaxon mobile and outside. He has a trike but it's more of a physical therapy tool with a fixed sprocket and really only goes as fast as walking speed. A slight hill and there's no way he's making it. My brother and I have been trying to devise a way to make his current bike electric. It doesn't look like that's going to happen so the best option I believe is to get him a trike from Lectric Bike Co. The bike is foldable and I think will be able to be modified to fit Jaxon's needs.
I believe giving Jaxon the option to get outside and to be able to ride a bike to town, down a trail or wherever he pleases would be life-changing and open up many new opportunities for him.
