Will You Help Build Support for Jasper's Recovery?

What does Jasper need?

Jasper needs to raise $12,000 to help with:

Jasper is in search of post surgery medical support, transportation, support for lawyers fees and paying off car payments. He needs to be able to continue to pay bills, feed himself and maintain a roof over his head while he recovers from a multi-step surgery process in the midst of divorce proceedings and significant changes to his living situation and work capacity.

Why Does Jasper Need Support?

They are currently going through multi-step bottom surgery. This requires many doctor visits, transport to and from medical facilities, and multiple periods of recovery during which he will likely not be able to continue his work through it all. His work is currently quite physically demanding for his body, which is now in need of additional surgery, in part, due to complications with his previous procedure and recovery process, so we are hoping to be able to manage enough support this time so he can fully recover without complications before he returns to any labor intensive work.

All of this is occurring during a time of major transition— he is navigating a divorce, which left him displaced in housing and community. While desperately in search of a job in June, Jasper tried to buy a used electrical car to do door dash and Uber around the bay area. But it was a lemon car! Jasper tried to return it but in desperate hope that this would help him get such a job that was compatible with his body’s condition, he signed papers stating that he could not return it. He’s tried many things and done a lot of research try to exchange, but he’s found it would put him thousands of dollars more in debt for another car that's not good either. He tried to get bought out but a new car would cost $600 a month and would make their credit worse with the credit check and that’s not an option with his current income capacity. So on top of navigating the divorce, surgery and being displaced, he has been trying to navigate this as well, and is currently on the hook for $250/month for this car. Now he is trying to get rid of the car and attempting to do monthly payments until he can.

While he has finally found a place he can afford with his current job, he is generally living pay-check to pay-check and currently doesn’t have a large buffer to support him during his recovery period, so we are doing the best we can to help fill the gaps he will need while in recovery...

What Makes Jasper so Special to Us?

"Jasper would give the shirt off his own back,” one of his close friend over the past few years said.

He is generous to loved ones and strangers. When he was housed he offered his home to many friends as a safe haven to stay at when in need over the years. In particular, he really came through for a friend over the past year when they didn’t have anywhere to stay for several months.

He spends much of his time thinking about and helping people find resources for basic needs. He does his best to share what resources he has with folks who need it most. He is a loving and responsible Guinea Pig dad who really cares for his friends and community, and dose a lot of care work himself.
