Hi, my name is Zachary Goodwill, and I’m creating this GoFundMe for my mom, Jan.

On Tuesday, November 25th, my mom woke up in severe pain and was unable to move or get out of bed. We rushed her to the ER, where doctors ran countless tests. That night, we heard the words no family ever wants to hear — it was cancer. At first, the doctors weren’t sure where it had started, but they knew it had metastasized and spread throughout her peritoneal cavity, and possibly beyond.

After her follow-up appointment on 12/11, we received the official diagnosis: stage 4 ovarian cancer. The cancer has already spread to several areas, and everything has been moving incredibly fast. She’s now scheduled for an emergency hysterectomy on December 16th, along with an invasive examination of the peritoneal cavity so doctors can remove larger tumors and create a treatment plan moving forward.

A bit about my mom:

My mom, Jan, is truly my superhero. She’s been in a loving marriage for 32 years and raised two sons—myself and my older brother, Aaron. Aaron was born with disabilities and isn’t able to fully care for himself. About ten years ago, after a serious accident he suffered, my mom became his full-time caregiver. She has dedicated her entire life to her family, her boys, and the small herd of corgis she lovingly raised over the years. She is the most selfless, warmhearted person I know, always putting others before herself.

Now she’s facing the fight of her life, and for once, she needs help.

We’ve already started receiving medical bills from her first ER visit around Thanksgiving, and we have no idea what the full cost will be. With travel to and from Rochester, potential multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, hospital stays, and everything in between, we know the financial burden will be overwhelming.
