On Saturday, February 8, 2025, the world lost a beautiful soul to domestic violence, compounded by a deeply flawed system. Jamie Hagen was tragically taken from her family, friends, and most importantly, her two daughters, when she was murdered in her home by her ex-fiancé. Jamie did everything right, followed the law step by step, as instructed. She filed a protection order against Casey Kindt in December 2024 after he assaulted her and threatened her and her daughter. He was charged with terroristic threats, third-degree domestic assault and child abuse. He posted bond but was taken back into custody in early January 2025 for violating the protection order. On Friday, February 7, Jamie stood before Judge C. Jo Petersen, pleading for no bail after receiving life-threatening messages. Instead, the judge increased it to $75,000. Casey posted bond that day and within 36 hours he broke into Jamie's home, shot her multiple times and killed her. Leaving her teenage daughters without a mother. Jamie trusted the system but was devastatingly failed by it!
