the White Family has a new chapter rolling out this week that’s rooted in the bond of this dear family.
It has been over 30 years now since Jamie’s dear brother’s accident. Johnny was just a little boy and now he is a man in his 40s. He has required full time care since the accident and the needs have increased each year. Jamies parents, Julie & John Sr. demonstrate the devotion and love each day, tirelessly, managing his health both physically and mentally. As I have learned more about caregiving, this often times leaves very little energy for the caretaker to prioritize their own wellbeing. Julie John Sr. are now in there late 70s and the lifting and physical demands are simply too much for them full time. The plan has always been when this time came, the transition from their home to Jaime’s home would be the best next step.
So here we are. Aside from her more than full time job; Jamie has been prepping for moving day, and that’s today. She has ripped tiles out, re-tiled and converted her one bathroom to an ADA compliant space. Moved out of her bedroom since it is a better space for Johnny, and wrapping her head around all the things she will be needing to consider as a family, meal planning, medical care daily, and the very tender and personal care needs for her brother. All while working full time. This is an honor and an overwhelming time. Both love and a sense of humor help, and Jamie holds enough of both of those qualities to mend the world. But the practical duties are no joke and it would be tremendously generous to help ease some of the responsibilities with extra funds to help with, yard work, house cleaning, food planning and meal prep.
Thank you for any contribution—it’s time to bless the White Family xo
