Support Jamie Latney: From Hardship to Hope

This is for Jamie Latney.
It takes a community, and a small group of us are fervently working to get Leapin' Latney, as he's known at GHS, back on his feet! Alone we are just individuals; together we are a force for good and change! The majority of us are one paycheck or one crisis away from a similar fate! Any amount will help. Skip the DoorDash, the coffee out, or the lottery ticket and let it help change someone’s life.
One of the greatest ball players in Greenport High School history has fallen on hard times and is currently living in a broken-down Nissan Pathfinder in a parking lot on Adams St.
His evenings are spent crouched in the back of the Pathfinder, reading James Patterson novels by flashlight and plotting out the next step to getting back on his feet.
It wasn’t always this way for “Leapin’ Latney,” one of Greenport’s most gifted native sons.
Latney gets a few hundred dollars a month in disability, he said, but the payments remain in jeopardy as long as he has no physical address.
