Update: Jamie continues to need further surgeries and has had a few set backs from spinal fluid leaks to pneumonia setting in his lungs from the extent of paralysis. Because of the spinal injury location, he is unable to cough and clear his lungs like most of us. Continued prayers are needed for Jamie and his family as they struggle making ends meet at the farm and traveling in the winter weather back and forth to Pittsburgh. His last surgery was Monday to drain the spinal fluid pocket. With continued thoughts and prayers we hope for some stability to transfer him out of ICU again and to UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh. If able to donate, it is greatly appreciated and if not, please share daily to spread the work! We are thankful for all of the continued prayers and donations that have helped us come this far.
The Holler family has had an excessive amount of unfortunate events in the past week. With farm production already on pause as family stated in the comment below, Jamie was in an accident that broke his neck, causing most likely permanent paralysis. Veronica was receiving emergency surgery herself when she heard of the accident. Without even being able to recover comfortably at home, she has had to rush to be at Jamie’s side for multiple surgeries and will continue throughout the next several months. Jamie was the head of the farm and the main operator for business to flow even at the decreased processing rate. With his paralysis and long road of recovery to hopefully obtain some upper body movements, the farm and family will need any help they can get to assist in properly renovating the home to accommodate handicap and to commute back and forth to support Jamie during this tragic time. I know it’s a rough time of the year to ask for donations for most, and we are fortunate to be able to spend this time with Jamie present. Any donation amount is greatly appreciated, and all thoughts, prayers, and shares are likewise. We are hoping to collect 30K to assist in travel expenses, renovations, and maintaining as much as possible on the farm till production can be reinitiated. Jamie is currently at UPMC in Pittsburgh ICU where he will remain for the time being. Cards, best wishes, and donations are welcome to be sent. Thank you for your time, donations, and shares as we navigate these challenging times. God bless.
Family, friends, & followers:
A few days ago, Jamie, our husband, father, & heart of Holler-View Farm, was in an accident that broke his neck & has left the bottom half of his body paralyzed with upper body mobility significantly impaired. We hope that over time he can regain movement in his arms & neck, but the doctors have told us that it is unlikely that he will walk again. While we are so incredibly grateful that he is alive, our world has been upended. Without Dad, Holler-View Farm as we know it would not exist. Our path forward is unclear, but we know it will be long & one of the most critical of our lives.
From the farm's perspective, we have been undergoing construction the past several months, which has affected milk processing operations. Dad has been integral in the progress of this project, but with the accident, milk bottling operations will continue to be on pause. We hope to begin processing again in the future, but for now, we ask you to please keep Jamie in your thoughts as he & our family begin to navigate the long road ahead.
