I am raising money for a dear friend who is in dire need of money to pay a lawyer. I have a dear friend who's like a brother to me. I've known him since 1989. His name is James and he is currently 74 years old. He had a rough life. He has spent 26 years of his life in prison for a crime he did not commit. In fact, he had nothing to do with the crime, but due to crooked politicians, police work, and a very bad public defender, he was convicted of a crime that he was totally innocent of. He also spent 12 years on parole after he was released. He narrowly escaped being killed in prison by the authorities. Finally, when they saw that somebody on the outside cared about him and he showed them the proper paperwork, they finally let him out. After being in prison for so many years James learned a lot about the law this is why he was able to put together the paper work that allowed him to be set free.

Since his release from prison over 25 years ago, he has spent many years trying to get a lawyer that will take his case and get him his proper restitution. Many lawyers wasted his time, kept his paperwork, and just led him on and did nothing for him. He lives in Florida and he finally found an attorney to take his case. The lawyer has done the proper paperwork to get the case taken to court, but after doing the work, he is asking for $10,000 to file the paperwork and be paid for the work he's done so far. James does not have money to pay him, so that's why we are doing this fundraiser. James has a lot of health issues and I wanna make sure he gets his restitution. Right now, he's living in temporary housing until he can get a place of his own, and he's been living in temporary places for many years now. Nothing will ever give James back the 26 years plus 12 years on parole that he lost, but the restitution will help to pay his bills, provide for him and his family, and give him a comfortable life that he deserves!
