Raphael Davis and Lilieth Riley-Johnson are beloved teachers at Sedgefield Elementary, each making a lasting impact on our school community. Raphael has dedicated the past three years to guiding and inspiring fifth graders, always going the extra mile to build strong relationships with students, families, and staff. Lilieth joined us this year as a fourth grade teacher and has quickly become an integral part of our learning community, bringing warmth and dedication to her classroom.

Both Raphael and Lilieth have families in Jamaica who are facing unimaginable hardship after Hurricane Melissa, the strongest storm ever to hit the island, made landfall in St. Elizabeth on October 28. Their parents, siblings, and cousins have all been affected by the devastation—losing homes, belongings, and access to basic necessities. The storm left much of the island without power or water, destroyed infrastructure, and forced thousands into emergency shelters. In the hardest-hit areas, families are struggling to find food and safe shelter as recovery efforts continue.

Raphael and Lilieth are doing everything they can from afar, supporting their loved ones through prayer and by rallying our community for help. This fundraiser will provide immediate relief for their families, helping to repair homes, replace essential belongings, and ensure they have enough food to get through the holidays while the island rebuilds. Every contribution will make a real difference for these families as they work to recover and rebuild their lives.
