Our beloved son, Jake has been battling serious mental health challenges that have required multiple hospitalizations. Before his illness, my husband and I both worked hard to provide for our family. But after Jake’s condition worsened, I had to stop working to care for him, leaving us with only one income and no health insurance with mounting medical expenses.

On April 30, Jake lost his Medicaid insurance due to turning 19, leaving him without the medical coverage he desperately needs. As parents, we are heartbroken and struggling to afford his treatments, basic necessities, and even a roof over our heads.

We have never experienced mental illness and the devastation it can have on the family. We thought it was going to be a temporary setback, but we are 6 months into this crisis. We have now fallen five months behind on our bills and without support, we don’t know how we will keep going.
