On July 24, 2025, our community lost a brave and selfless man in a tragic and senseless act of violence. Jaime, the beloved father of a Rocky Mount Police Officer, was shot and killed while courageously stepping in to protect others during a horrifying incident in a local park.
What began as an ordinary day turned into a nightmare when a shooter began threatening innocent lives. Without hesitation, Jaime intervened, a final act of bravery that cost him his life but saved others. His heroic actions exemplify the very best of humanity.
He was more than a hero in his final moments, he was a devoted father, a loving family man, a friend to many, and someone who always looked out for others. His loss leaves a hole in the hearts of all who knew him, and his family is now facing unimaginable grief. He is survived by his three children and three grandchildren.
