Help Jadon Rock Through Recovery (Literally)!
Hi everyone! I’m reaching out on behalf of Jadon, who’s having a bit of an… unexpected year, thanks to a UTV accident this summer. He’s 19 years old, a Merrimack HS grad, and currently a sophomore at Plymouth State University, where he’s studying computer science. He loves music (he’s learning guitar), the outdoors, thrifting, movies and hanging out with friends. He also has an incredible sense of humor, which has been our saving grace during the past few months.
The Situation:
A fun afternoon UTV ride in the Adirondacks turned traumatic when the vehicle rolled, causing Jadon to be pinned under the machine with a compound fracture of his left arm. After the accident, Jadon had emergency surgery and a 4 day stay at Albany Medical Center. He was later diagnosed with chronic osteomyelitis—a serious bone infection. Unfortunately, he was asymptomatic, so the infection was not caught in time to avoid another emergency surgery. He is now rocking an external fixation device on his arm and getting IV antibiotics at home. And even though he’s basically got a robot arm at the moment, he’s still managing to learn guitar as part of his physical therapy.
We are working with infectious disease, trauma, and orthopedic teams, and expect at least two more surgeries in the future. The recovery process will likely take 18-24 months, so we’re in it for the long haul.
How You Can Help:
The financial strain is starting to add up between commuting to PSU (because Jadon is determined to stay on track with his studies), covering medical supplies, co-pays, bills, and exploring second opinions—potentially at Mass General. We may even need to consult a lawyer for some questionable care Jadon received.
We’re asking for help to ease the financial stress so we can focus on what really matters: Jadon's health and getting him back to full strength. Your donations will go toward:
• Medical supplies and co-pays
• Commuting expenses for school and appointments
• Bills that are piling up during this time
• Seeking second opinions to ensure Jadon gets the best care
• Legal consultations if necessary
About Chronic Osteomyelitis: Chronic osteomyelitis is a long-term infection of the bone that requires careful and continuous monitoring. In Jadon's case, the infection is in his ulna and radial bones in his left arm. It’s a serious condition, but we’re determined to fight it with everything we’ve got.
Goal: We are looking to cover a few months of expenses while managing Jadon's care and working reduced hours. Any help is appreciated, and if you can’t donate, you can give us a hand by sharing this with others!
Thank You! We’re keeping optimistic that J-Bot will make a full recovery, but we could really use some help to lighten the load. Thank you for reading!
