**Hi everyone, and thank you for visiting Jacobs page!**

As some of you may know, my 14 year old son Jacob is currently working hard to fundraise for a truly life-changing opportunity: a 3-week volunteer expedition to Kenya with Camps International.

This isn't just a holiday or a tourist trip. This is a hands-on, ethical journey where he will be living alongside rural communities and working directly on long-term sustainable projects that make a real, lasting impact.

What is Camps International?

Camps International is an award-winning social enterprise that operates permanent camps in rural areas. They work closely with local people to identify where help is needed most, aligning all of their projects with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

In Jacobs words:

During my time in Kenya, I will be getting my hands dirty working on vital initiatives, including:

Community Development:
Helping build and improve local school infrastructure, clean water facilities, and classrooms to support children's education.
Wildlife Conservation:
Constructing elephant-deterrent fences to prevent human-wildlife conflict and protect local farms, as well as working on wildlife monitoring.
Environmental Protection:
Planting indigenous trees to help combat deforestation and restore local habitats.

Why This Means So Much to Me

This expedition is a massive personal challenge that will take me completely out of my comfort zone. It’s a chance for me to learn about a completely different culture, develop real-world skills, and -most importantly - give back and make a tangible difference to people and wildlife who need support.

How You Can Help

To get there, I need to raise funds to cover the cost of the expedition, including project materials, camp stays, safety infrastructure, and travel.

Any donation, no matter how small, will get me one step closer to Kenya and would mean the absolute world to me.

*UPDATE: Giving Back Locally Before Going Globally!*

To help reach my goal and earn my place on the expedition, I want to look after my local environment here in Lechlade first. I am launching a sponsored river cleanup along our stretch of the River Thames and the Thames path!
In conjunction with local river groups, I will be out weekends in my high-vis gear clearing plastic pollution and litter to keep our community beautiful.
Every single pound donated to this page now pulls double duty: it keeps the River Thames clean today, and it helps build schools and protect wildlife in Kenya in the summer of 2028. If you see me out by the river with my litter picker, please say hello!
