Hello Family, Friends and Community Members,
My name is Jackson Wernli, and I am a LIFE Scout with Troop 440 of Monroe, NY working toward the rank of Eagle Scout; the highest achievement in Scouting America. It represents a "lifetime of honor" in leadership, service, and character. This journey is about more than just earning a badge; it’s about demonstrating leadership and giving back in a meaningful way to the community that has helped shape who I am today.
For my Eagle Scout Service Project, I’ve chosen to give back to Pine Tree Elementary School; the school where I made so many of my childhood memories. It’s a place that means a lot to me, and I want to make sure it continues to be a safe, welcoming, and inspiring environment for all students who walk its halls today and in the future.
The school’s outdoor sports area is long overdue for refurbishment. The four basketball backboards & hoops, basketball court, and two soccer goals have become worn down over time. My project will be to completely refurbish this equipment and space by repairing or replacing any rusted or rotting components, scraping and repainting poles and backboards, as well as the soccer goal posts. In addition, the blacktop will be repaired, resealed, and repainted with fresh lines for both basketball courts; giving the space a fresh look with school colors.
This project is about more than just fixing rusty equipment; it’s about restoring a place where kids can play, grow, and build their own memories. It’s about creating a sense of pride in the community and ensuring that every student has access to a fun, safe and well-maintained outdoor activity space.
To make this vision a reality, I am working to raise $4,000 to cover the cost of materials and supplies needed to complete the project safely and effectively. Any excess funds not used for the project materials will be donated to Pine Tree Elementary school, as per Scouting America guidelines.
This project is a huge step in my journey to becoming an Eagle Scout, and I can’t do it alone. Your support; whether through a donation - of any amount - or simply by sharing this page with your family, friends and network, would mean the world to me and will have a lasting impact on so many students in the Monroe, NY community.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read my story and for helping me give back to a place that has given so much to me.
Sincerely,
Jackson
