Hello, my name is Jackie and I am passionate about volunteering and giving back to the community. My closest friends know that I am selfless and have a heart for others.
I've always wanted to go on an international mission trip, but yearly vacation time-off is limited and I enjoy leisure traveling. However, I was presented with a great opportunity! A former co-worker from 10+ years ago invited me to volunteer for a week in the jungles of Ecuador. I only feel safe and confident going on this expedition/mission trip because this will be her fourth time joining this mission.
Thank you for believing in me, and helping me to accomplish my calling to serve!
7 days trip from March 29th to April 6th- Details about the cause:
- About Verde Sumaco:
Verde Sumaco is a small village in the Amazon jungle of Ecuador. It is home to about 300 people. Guild is partnering with the villagers to Inspire Hope, Deliver Dreams, and Build Prosperity for their families and community, as well as help ensure a brighter future for their children. Our partnership with Verde Sumaco will likely last for the next few years. We have had the opportunity to visit the village a few times now and have already seen an impact amongst the villagers as well as within our expeditioners.
- Our Purpose:
The Guild hopes to help the citizens of Verde Sumaco to accelerate progress to improve their future. It is not our purpose to influence them with our ideas but to help them with the vision they already
have. We will give our time, money, and talents to help them accomplish their goals. Our purpose is also to gain different perspectives, experience new cultures, build our capacity for empathy, start rich new friendships within our Guild family, and build connections that last a lifetime.
- Location:
We will spend some time in Quito—Ecuador's capital city—and in the village of Verde Sumaco, which is a small village, about 4 hours by canoe, northwest of the city of Coca.
I urge you to please pray for me for my health and safety, against malaria and diarrhea.
It will be rough living for a week, but very worth it! :)
Donation covers:
- 7 nights lodging, hired chef for cooking while in the village, food, bottled water, canoe ride to/from village, local tour guide.
- Airfare
- Miscellaneous expenses such as: malaria & diarrhea medication, bug repellent, sunscreen, wipes, hand sanitizer, first-aid items, etc...
