ISKCON Finland - Temple Renovation & Development Project 2025-2029
Dear Devotees and Well-Wishers
We humbly invite you to support our international fundraising campaign for the urgent and essential renovation of Finland’s largest Hindu temple. Located near the Helsinki city center, the temple occupies a uniquely strategic and accessible location—making it a natural hub for the growing Sanatana Dharma community in Finland and across Northern Europe.
The Hare Krishna Temple, ISKCON Helsinki Malmi Manor, which also serves as ISKCON Finland’s headquarters, is housed in beautiful 18th-century heritage buildings of great historical and cultural value. As museum-protected properties, these buildings require specialized mandatory restoration work, carried out under the guidelines of the City of Helsinki. All the renovation work needs to be started by end of the year and finished in five years.
Our goal is to restore, preserve, and uplift the temple complex while honoring its original architecture and spiritual essence. The strict guidelines from The City of Helsinki includes:
1. Structural repairs and upgrades
2. Aesthetic and functional improvements
3. Improved facilities for visitors, devotees, and community event
such as:
- Rotten logs renewed
- Increase the load capacity of the floor
- Repair work on the balconies
- Increase ventilation in all rooms
- New HVAC system and equipment
- Add firewalls and doors
- Add fire exits
- Space requirements for a public space
- Change the floor layout and utilization of certain rooms
What Has Happened So Far
- An official architectural firm was hired to create the first repair plan.
- The City of Helsinki reviewed the first repair plan and rejected it.
- A second repair plan was created and now it is approved.
- With the approved permit, the mandatory renovation work can now begin.
- The deadline to complete the renovations is five years.
- If the renovations are not completed according to public event standards and fire safety codes, the temple will no longer be allowed to host programs and will be required to close.
- We have managed to raise around 50 000 euros from November 2024 until February 2026.

Thanks to the generosity of our small community in Finland, we’ve already raised around €50,000. But our total goal is €300,000 to secure atleast the temple main building renovation. Every contribution counts—and we can’t do this without you.
To begin the renovation work on time, we aim to raise as much as possible by the end of the year. Without steady financial support, the project slows and the burden on daily temple operations increases.
