Hi everyone,
I’m Gabrielle, a mom and active member of our community, and I’m reaching out to ask for your help for someone very special to us—Isidro, our beloved neighborhood paletero. Every day after school, Isidro makes the long trip from Little Village to sell paletas to our kids. He is one of the kindest, most humble people you’ll ever meet. Isidro is here alone in the country, working hard and sending money back to support his own kids and family.
Right now is an especially tough time for street vendors like Isidro. With everything going on with ICE, he hasn’t been able to come out and make any money, and the cold seasons are just around the corner when selling outside is nearly impossible. Isidro has always been generous—if someone doesn’t have exact change, he lets them go anyway, and he never forgets to give a paper towel with each ice cream.
We’re hoping to lift some of the stress off Isidro by helping him cover for the work he’s missed. All we’re asking is for the price of a paleta or two, and I will personally cover the fees so he gets every dollar. If you know Isidro, you know how much he deserves this support. Let’s make this scary time a little sweeter for him.
Thank you so much for anything you can give or share.
