This is Irene Velasco, a 44-year-old caregiver who I first met in 2012 when she began looking after my kids.  During the week of April 19th 2021 Irene's partner Bert, 52 years, tested positive for Covid-19.  Bert worked in a factory.  Later that same week Bert died. 

The purpose of this page is to raise money to help cover Irene's new and unforeseen expenses for the next 6 months.  Examples of unforeseen expenses include Bert's funeral, his portion of the rent and utilities, as well as unpaid leave from work. 

Irene began her career in Canada as a nanny for children.  After certifying as a personal support worker (PSW), she expanded her work to caring for senior citizens in their homes.  In addition to all the individuals and families she supports in Toronto, Irene  provides financial support to her own family in the Philippines too.  

Irene has dedicated her life to caring for individuals in the community.  Any assistance during her time of need will help ensure she doesn't feel alone.
