Help build a garden for our Women’s Shelter backyard!
Dwight Way has been a part of Insight Housing since the 1990s, and is home to our Women’s Overnight Shelter, transitional housing for Veterans program, and soon to be 15 Board and Care beds. We need your help to revamp the backyard for these residents (like Marilyn and Patrice, pictured above) to continue to make this space feel like home.
The Project
Until a few months ago, a play structure from the '90s took up most of the backyard space. With our recent renovations to the building, the playground came out, leaving us with an opportunity to beautify the space in way that can serve our residents who live there. This is what our Dwight Way backyard currently looks like:
Our goal is to raise $1,000 to build a vibrant garden in the backyard. Here's how your generosity makes a difference:
- $50 - Plant the First Seeds: provides soil and seedlings to fill a raised bed with herbs and vegetables
- $100 - Bed of Nourishment: builds and plants a full raised garden bed, supplying fresh produce and beauty in the space
- $250 - Roots That Last: multiple raised beds and trellises that ensure the garden produces food season after season
- $500 - Garden Transformation: revitalizes an entire section of the backyard with seating and greenery, turning it into true communal space
Thanks to our generous in-kind and pro-bono supporters, all other key elements to make the backyard complete are covered, including a mural by Nigel Sussman, landscape and architectural guidance by 122 West Design, contracting work by Oliver & Company, and project management by Studio KDA.
