Hello — for the past 7 years, our community-drive has brought a moment of joy into the lives of children who are facing incredible challenges. This year, we’re expanding our focus to whole families, because children don’t struggle in isolation — when their families are under pressure, the entire household feels the impact.
In the Indianapolis area, too many families are hurting. According to the latest research in Indiana, roughly 38% of households are either living in poverty or earning too little to cover basic expenses, even though many of the adults are working hard. Families are being forced to choose between food, housing, transportation, healthcare, or child-care.
Behind the scenes of many public schools are families who are living in empty houses, motels, hotels, cars—or just one paycheck or one medical emergency away from crisis. These families are struggling with job losses, healthcare or Medicaid cuts, rising costs, and instability. Because of this, their children often feel the strain: hunger, stress, fear, not knowing where the next stable home will be.
We support 7 schools in neighborhoods where the need is especially urgent. This fundraiser is about giving not just the children, but their families — a full day of hope, light and care. A day where they feel seen, valued, supported.
Here’s what your donation will help us provide:
- Resource-kits or family-care packages for families: essentials they may be short on (food, hygiene items, warm clothing, small surprises).
- Support events at the 7 schools that include parents and siblings: fun activities, meals, family-friendly programs.
- Supplies and resources for children AND for parents/guardians (so that the whole family benefits).
- Covering the logistics of the drive: coordination, transportation, materials, outreach, ensuring the event reaches those most in need.
- Ensuring every dollar goes directly to helping these families and their schools for this one special day of community-care.
Why now?
Because the stress on families has grown. In Indiana, many households may be above the poverty line yet still cannot afford the basics. Many families are stuck in survival mode—when families struggle, kids don’t just lose comfort … they lose opportunities, stability, the simple joy of being a kid. That’s why we believe helping the family unit matters.
How you can help:
- Donate what you can — even a small amount helps bring something meaningful to these families.
- Share this fundraiser: your friends, your community, your social networks—let them know these families need support.
- Spread the word locally: in schools, churches, workplaces, community centers—let’s reach as many people as possible.
- Stay tuned: we’ll post updates, photos, stories after the event so you can see the impact your generosity made.
Thank you for your compassion and kindness. When we stand together with families who are under incredible strain, we offer more than a single event — we offer hope, dignity, and connection. With your support, we can bring light into their lives and remind them they are not alone.
With deep gratitude,
Chris
