DanceWorks Helsinki aims to strengthen the recognition and impact of dance art, especially contemporary ballet, in Helsinki and beyond. We also aim to expand the body concepts and aesthetic conventions in the field of ballet, and to develop the management culture, working conditions, and pedagogical practices in the field. Our guiding principle is to employ professionally trained ballet dancers and support their artistry in an interactive and healthy work environment where there is room for the dancers' creative agency. Moreover, we believe that contemporary ballet needs to, and has potential to connect to current societal themes without compromising the tradition of the art form.
