Support Incarcerated Women During Covid-19

For weeks, The Edmonton Institution for Women (EIFW), Edmonton’s federal women prison have been on lockdown due to Covid-19. As a result, most programming and all visitation has been cancelled and movement inside the prison is incredibly restricted. This means that women can no longer access materials and supports they relied on. We’re raising funds to bring some supplies to them and show incarcerated women that people care and haven’t forgotten about them. For the past two years, we’ve built a collective of women at the University of Alberta who facilitate post-secondary courses with EIFW and BSWH. Though our physical programming ceased, we were able to put the rest of their assignments in packages so they can finish the course to earn their university credit. We missed saying goodbye to our class and would like to fundraise to support not just our students but all incarcerated women at EIFW.

Funds will be used to purchase journals, books, paper, pens, postage, envelopes, soap, beads, fabric, board games, and exercise bands. Please help us care for everyone in our community, including incarcerated women in Edmonton.

Thank you!
