My name is Maria, and I have been a volunteer and tutor in a Minneapolis High School with a large immigrant population for 16 years. I am raising funds to help students and their families with rent, food, and legal assistance during this difficult time. Our school does not have a PTA or wealthy and connected families who can quickly organize financial support in times of crisis. A team of teachers will prioritize the needs of families and the funds we have available. I am sending all of the Go Fund Me money we raise to a checking account for one teacher. She will write checks from her account to pay rent or buy groceries for student families. This process is being overseen and documented by a team from our school. 100% of the funds will go directly to student families.
