Dear Loved Ones and Supporters,
We are still reeling from the loss of our beloved cousin, Ileana Maria Abreu, a radiant soul whose name—meaning “Sunny, Beloved, Bright Light”—captured her essence when she shone brightest. She leaves behind her two precious children, Isolina and Elias, who were the heart of her world.
At her best, Ileana was a force for good; her infectious laugh and unyielding zest for life lifted everyone around her. As an educator and therapist, with a Master of Arts (MA) and Doctor of Education (EdD) from Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology, she poured her heart into helping others. From speaking before Congress in her college years to later running non-profits, she channeled her boundless energy into creating positive change for communities far and wide. Her life was a beautiful testament to transforming her struggles into purpose and compassion, inspiring those who knew her to persevere through their own challenges.
Ileana faced personal battles that many of you were aware of, yet her resilience and desire to make a difference never wavered. May her loss inspire us all to reach out with greater compassion to those we know are struggling, helping them find the light she so bravely sought. We find solace in imagining her now dancing and laughing with loved ones who went before her, especially her cherished grandparents, free from the burdens she carried.
In this time of profound loss, we come together to support Ileana’s family. We’re raising funds to cover the costs of her funeral and to provide ongoing support for Isolina and Elias as they navigate life without their mom. Your generosity—whether through a donation, a share, or a kind word—will ease the burden on her parents and ensure her children have the resources to thrive.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for honoring Ileana’s memory and helping us carry forward her legacy of love, resilience, and compassion. Every act of kindness brings us closer to giving her the farewell she deserves and securing a brighter future for her little ones.
With deepest gratitude,
