This fundraiser is for Ilar Harris.

She is a senior citizen who has fallen on hard times due to arthritic issues in both of her knees, which has landed her in a long-term care facility in Milford, MI.

Ilar worked hard as a chemist/engineer for more than 22 years in the automotive industry until downsizing and layoffs caused her to pivot and switch careers, moving to education as a regular substitute teacher for the next 17 years, including returning to school. She still tries to tutor students online, when possible.

Ilar's insurance company has decided to no longer pay for her physical therapy and care.

She is facing the prospect of being forced to give up her apartment and permanently remain at the facility in Milford. If that happens, the facility will take all but $60 a month from her Social Security benefits.

She needs $3,200 to cover her rent and bills for a month because her social security will be used to pay for her room and board and physical therapy at the facility during that time. With a month of successful physical therapy, Ilar will be able to return to her apartment and continue to live independently.
