My dad Ihor and his wife Khrystyna have a small vegetable farm one hour north of Kyiv, Ukraine. They lost 2/3 of their crop to a sudden cold snap this May. This means they won't be able to sell anything and make enough money for electricity, health expenses, and gas. I am supporting them as much as I can, but after answering many questions about their well-being I decided to also open it up to my community. Ihor and Khrystyna need roughly $500 a month to cover basic expenses, so I am hoping to raise enough for the next three months and then see how everything goes.
Last year, my dad was diagnosed with and treated for cancer. Thankfully, he is currently in remission, but he needs medications to manage his health. The war and the constant explosions of intercepted missiles over their village cause him enormous amounts of stress, so I am hoping to at least alleviate some of the financial burden on him.
Background:
Three years ago, my community rallied together and raised over $10,000 for Khrystyna and Ihor to build a powered greenhouse on their farm. This greenhouse is the sole reason for 1/3 of their crop surviving the cold snap; it will provide food for them in the coming months. It has also been a place of warmth during winter when electricity was going out due to Russia's persistent strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. We are so immensely grateful for that beautiful display of love and support, and we hope that there are still resources that can be shared with my family. I really appreciate it.
