Hi, my name is Marisa. As someone who was raised on food stamps and other forms of assistance, I know just how crucial these programs are for people simply trying to survive, especially during the holidays.
SNAP and other benefits are what keep families fed, and when they’re delayed or stopped during a government shutdown, people suffer. And it’s not just those on assistance, thousands of federal workers are also going without pay right now, the very people who keep essential services running.
It’s heartbreaking that anyone should have to wonder how to feed their family, let alone during the holiday season, when so many are already stretched thin.
That’s why I’ve started this GoFundMe. 100% of the funds raised will be donated directly to the Houston Food Bank, which is actively helping families impacted by the SNAP delays and unpaid government employees.
Food banks can stretch every dollar further, turning just $1 into multiple meals, and make sure that food gets directly to the people who need it most. Your donation here will help keep shelves stocked and tables full for families across Houston and beyond during this critical time.
Every dollar helps. Whether it’s $5 or $50, it all adds up to full plates, full hearts, and a reminder that compassion still exists.
If you’re doing okay this month, please consider donating or sharing this link.
If you’re struggling, please know that people care, and that organizations like the Houston Food Bank are working tirelessly to make sure no one goes hungry this holiday season.
We may not control the system, but we can try to take care of each other.
