Support Hot Meals for Lake County Seniors

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO CONTINUE THE HOT MEALS FOR SENIORS PROGRAM?

Potential barriers to a healthy diet may include the cost of produce. Six percent of Lake County, IL residents reported being unable to purchase produce within the last six months because of cost. Two percent of Lake County adults reported that they had been unable to purchase produce at some point in the past six months because they were unable to get to a place that sold these items.

The HOT MEALS program can increase its delivery distance to include more of Lake County with a temperature controlled van. Community Action Partnership of Lake County kitchens are located within communities that have the greatest need, however we do not want time nor distance required for food safety to ever be a barrier to our hot meal service.
