Support Honey and Family in this time of need

Hello! We are Althea Thauberger and sharai mustatia and we are called to raise awareness for Honey Desjarlais in her time of need. 


Our beloved friend and family member, Honey Desjarlais (Pretty Weasel Woman) suffered multiple cardiac arrests in Fort McMurray early morning of April 1st, 2022. She was taken by medevac to the cardiology unit at Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institue on April 3rd. She remains in hospital and is currently receiving excellent care. 
 
Honey is currently minimally responsive, but she continues to show signs of hope every day. Her care is ongoing and the family is awaiting further updates. Her heart and other vital organs are functioning well and neurological monitoring shows no abnormalities. The family remain hopeful and optimistic for a full recovery. Honey shows a tremendous amount of courage in her healing effort. The voices and presence of loved ones help to guide her spirit through the pain that she is experiencing. Full Recovery and rehabilitation will take more time and energy. 


As many people know, Honey comes from a family of social justice artists and warriors, including Cleo Reece, Skeena and Simon Reece and Nitanis Desjarlais. All of whom have given endless amounts of energy and work to their communities. It is our calling as friends of this family to help relieve some of the pressures they are currently experiencing in the process of being present to and sorting out the best care for Honey and her two sons. 


Funds from this effort will cover 

Support for Honey's two sons
Housing/accommodations for family that have to temporarily relocate to Edmonton 
Travel expenses
Food
Rehabilitation and therapy fees 

ALL funds raised go directly to the family.


As requested, we will be using this platform to provide updates on Honey’s health and the continuing basic needs of the family. Thank you for supporting this loved, honoured and respected family in this difficult time of need. 


Any information shared with the public and including fundraising efforts, are done at the sole discretion and approval of Honey’s Sons and family.
