We’re Tom and Lachie, and we’ve been working on a way to change the plastic waste crisis in South Lombok while creating better outcomes for local people.
Right now, in Lombok, there’s no proper recycling system. Plastic is either burned, buried, or illegally dumped in riverbanks, waterways, and the ocean. We’re changing that with Honest Made, building a recycling centre that doesn’t just collect plastic but turns it into useful, circular products like furniture and home goods.
To make this work, we need more than just a recycling facility. We need a 360-degree system that lets local communities form our collection network and be part of the solution.

***Why It Matters***
Right now, most plastic waste in Lombok has nowhere to go. There’s no proper collection, no real recycling, and no way for locals to make money from picking it up. Without a real system, locals are forced to either burn their plastic outside their homes, or dump it in illegal locations along riverbanks, streets and oceans.
Honest Made is creating that missing system—one that keeps plastic out of the environment while also creating jobs and income for locals. With your help, we can make this happen.
***About Lombok***
Lombok sits just east of Bali, separated by the Lombok Strait. It’s a stunning mix of mountains, coastline, and small villages, offering a quieter alternative to its famous neighbour. The south is known for world-class surf spots like Desert Point, Mawi, and Gerupuk, while the north is home to Mount Rinjani, Indonesia’s second-highest volcano, surrounded by dense jungle and remote communities.
Tourism has grown fast, bringing both progress and challenges. We want to ensure that growth doesn’t come at the cost of Lombok’s environment or the people who call it home.
