Hiluf Mengesha Molla, our cousin, was recently taken into ICE custody in St. Paul, Minnesota and has since been transferred to a detention facility in El Paso, Texas. This has been an extremely difficult and painful time for our family and community. Hiluf does not currently have legal status, but he applied for asylum two years ago and his case is still pending. He has been trying to follow the legal process and seek protection through the proper channels. His sudden detention has been devastating for all of us who love and depend on him.
We have consulted with an immigration attorney who is willing to represent Hiluf, but the legal fees are far beyond what our family can afford on our own. This fundraiser is to help cover immigration attorney fees, legal work related to bond eligibility, court filings, and full case preparation. Hiluf is a kind and hardworking person who came to the United States seeking safety and a chance to live without fear. He is deeply loved by his family and community, and his absence has caused tremendous emotional and financial hardship.
We are asking for your support so that Hiluf can have a fair chance to present his asylum case and continue the legal process he began years ago. Any amount helps, and if you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this page. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, prayers, and support during this very difficult time.
