On December 21st, this incredible woman underwent hernia repair surgery. While she was sent home the next day and initially seemed to be doing okay, things took a difficult turn.
On December 23rd, we rushed her back to the hospital because she was in excruciating pain and vomiting blood. She spent Christmas in the hospital, with no clear answers except being told that these symptoms were “normal.” After being discharged, she continued to experience severe pain whenever she ate or drank anything.
This past Friday, she was readmitted to the hospital with worsening symptoms, and again, we were left without answers. On Tuesday, a barium swallow test finally revealed that her esophagus was too tight. She underwent a procedure on Wednesday to address the issue, and for a brief moment, we were hopeful.
That same night, she developed a fever. By Thursday, we learned she had pneumonia in her left lung, which was spreading quickly. She was started on antibiotics, but new challenges arose.
This morning, we were informed that she is severely malnourished and not receiving the nutrients her body desperately needs. A PICC line is being placed, and she will remain in the hospital until further notice.
As she fights to recover, we are struggling to manage the costs of travel, lodging, and other expenses. She is currently an hour away from where her son and I live, and the back-and-forth trips are becoming a financial strain.
We are reaching out to ask for your help. Any amount, no matter how small, will go directly toward covering these costs so we can continue to support her through this challenging time.
Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. It means the world to us.
