On Friday 26 June, our dear friend Greg suffered a sudden cardiac arrest that changed the lives of his family in an instant.

Greg survived the arrest but sustained a severe brain injury. Over the following weeks his condition declined, and he was moved to palliative care. He died peacefully in the early hours of Thursday 23 July, with Helen beside him.

This fundraiser is about Helen and Rory, Greg's wife and daughter. Greg's income stopped the day of his arrest. Helen is managing a serious illness of her own and is unable to work. Because the system still classed her as dependent on Greg's income, she cannot yet access government assistance, and the insurance and superannuation systems that will eventually help will take months to come through. In the meantime the mortgage, the family's already substantial medical costs and everyday bills don't wait, and there are now funeral costs as well. We are hoping to bridge that gap with this fundraiser.
