On Friday 26 June, our dear friend Greg suffered a sudden cardiac arrest that changed the lives of his family in an instant.

Greg survived and is breathing on his own, but he sustained a severe brain injury, and his condition has continued to decline. He is now moving to palliative care, where the focus is his comfort and dignity, and his family is facing the hardest weeks of their lives.

This fundraiser is about Helen and Rory, Greg’s wife and daughter, whose lives have been turned upside down. Greg’s income stopped overnight. Helen is managing a serious illness of her own and is unable to work. Because the system still classes her as dependent on Greg’s income, she can’t yet access government assistance, and the insurance and support systems that will eventually help will take months to come through. In the meantime the mortgage, the family’s already substantial medical costs and everyday bills don’t wait. We are hoping to bridge this gap with this fundraiser.
