My name is Heather Lange. I am an officer for the City of Portage Police Department. I am also a Portage native born and raised in the City of Portage, WI.

Growing up, this billboard was pretty cool. It flipped back and forth between two signs. Since my early years and moving forward to how old I am today, the billboard has not only stopped flipping back and forth, but it has the boards falling off and has been vandalized. This billboard has seen better days to say the least.

Since becoming an officer, I have also noticed a need for ways to communicate community events and happenings. We have a FaceBook page with events but some people do not have FaceBook or do not follow the page. Others are just passing through town or do not use social media as their way of communication.

I believe by utilizing this billboard as an electronic message board to communicate events and other things to the public that this would increase participation in the community or at least know what is going on or what will be going on within the community.
