Hayden's ICU Battle and Recovery
Donation protected
As of right now we are raising money to support his Mom and Dad during their long journey of supporting Hayden. Later on as we find out about medical bills we may increase it. They spend every waking minute at the hospital with Hayden so this will be to help them with the cost of having to eat out almost every meal as well as gas money to make the trip every day and anything else they may need during this process.
Here is a little bit about Hayden’s Journey. Hayden has been in the hospital since April 14th.
They took him by ambulance from Orange ER to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Beaumont.
They found out that he had pneumonia as well as something called empyema. They inserted a drain tube into his lung to drain the fluid and the trapped air that was between the lung and the lining, which was collapsing his lung and causing terrible pain.
They ended up having to put him to sleep to do the procedure. To make a long story short, things went south and Hayden's heart stopped. They did CPR for 2 minutes and got it beating.
They then intubated him and put him in ICU.
As of May 6th, he has been in ICU for 3 weeks. He has had so many things happen to him during that time. He had to undergo an emergency bowel surgery where they removed a section of intestine and drained 2 liters of fluid from his abdomen. He also aspirated, which caused E. coli to enter his lungs and cause a second infection. They had to go in and place a second, larger chest tube in hopes that it would drain fluid and keep him from having surgery to remove it.
He started to move in a good direction and then was able to pull his breathing tube out, causing a major setback.
As of today, we are praying and waiting to see if he can strengthen his lungs and be weaned off of the ventilator.
