I am a volunteer at Hawk Dance Farm, in Hillsdale, NY, where Damon Clift and Diane Creed, two dedicated vegans, are growing organic vegetables, herbs, and flowers on their 3-acre farm. They are in dire straits. This month, their 2 vehicles broke down! Their old Prius died (broken axle at 286,000 miles) and the truck they use to bring their produce to market needs extensive repair. If they don't get their produce to market, they have no income.

Because their farm is 3 acres it's too small to qualify for most farm subsidies and helpful government programs. They bring great, healthful, foods to us all... and yet, they simply are scraping by. They do not have even the down payment for one car!

Their farm has been their dream come true, but unfortunately, Diane has been unwell - she's been battling cancer for 17 years. So, Damon works the farm on his own - with no chemicals or machinery.

Any amount you contribute helps them get secure transport that they desperately need to make a living. They are looking at used vehicles right now and will use these funds to stay alive and in business.

You may wonder how best to help them. You can join their CSA; it is $800 for a full season and $600 for a half share. You can shop loyally with them at the Copake-Hillsdale Farmer's Market on Saturdays. But right now, it is urgent that they get wheels that are dependable.
