Hello, my name is Harvi Courtney, and I’m asking for your support as I defend myself against false accusations after stepping in to help a vulnerable 71-year-old neighbor, whose home and health were in crisis.

The home was in complete chaos. I have received threats from my neighbor due to her declining health. She lived this way for the last 12 years and no one has been there to help her. The home is now livable but she is refusing to go home.

Since 2019, I’ve lived next to Ms. Lowes and done everything I could to help her as her health declined. She suffers from fibromyalgia, mobility limitations, and was hospitalized multiple times in 2025 — including from February 27 to March 23, and again on April 5, 2025, following another fall. Her doctors labeled her a fall risk, and her home was considered unsafe for her to return to.

On April 6, 2025, I was assigned as her Advance Medical Directive, giving me legal responsibility for making medical and healthcare-related decisions on her behalf.

A Home in Crisis

When I entered her home, it was heartbreaking:
• Rat feces, dog feces, and urine covered the floors
• Overwhelming odor and biohazardous materials throughout
• Blocked exits, cluttered walkways, and clear fire hazards

No senior — especially one with limited mobility — should have to live like that. We both agreed the home was unsafe and needed to be cleaned immediately.

We Had a Verbal Agreement

Before the cleanup, Ms. Lowes and I had a verbal agreement that the home needed to be cleaned for her safety and health, and that we would work out how to handle the costs together.

We shared the understanding that her quality of life depended on making the space livable again. I acted only after that discussion — and always in good faith, as her legal medical decision-maker.

Now, as emotions run high and the reality of change sets in, I believe some of the current conflict stems from emotional distress and a moment of regret. I understand that deeply. But what I did was necessary, legal, and done with her best interest in mind.

Now I have to get a lawyer because now I’m facing property damage charges and also a trespassing charge. My heart was in the right place and my intentions were in the right place.
