Support Haizel's Father: Healing After Tragedy

My name is Haizel, and I have a story I'd like to share about my father, who is one of the most important people in my life. I have a lot of fond memories of him, like when he used to walk me to and from school, hand in hand, every day, until I felt too embarrassed to be walked by him. I laugh at it now, but I truly appreciate and cherish those moments.

My father is now 71 years old. He used to be very outgoing and active, and we enjoyed walking on trails by the beach. He tried to stay as healthy and active as possible, and he did a pretty good job. He's a typical stubborn man who wasn't ready to feel old.

One evening, while walking home from the grocery store with ingredients for dinner, he was hit by a car while crossing the street. The driver didn't notice until they drove over their damaged front bumper, got out of the car, and saw my father on the ground.

The police and task force did not conduct a drug or alcohol test on the driver and let him go.

My father now lives a life he never expected. He is grateful to be alive, but he experiences ongoing pain all over his body from head to toe (from facial, rib, and spinal fractures, just to name a few), along with mental battles that I will never understand. My dad is quite the trooper, and I honestly don't know how he survived.

The reason I started this Go Fund Me is because the driver is young, and I don't want to ruin their life with ongoing court cases and money they don't have. I just want my father to get help with the pain he suffers every day. I'd like to help him pay for some of his medical bills, ongoing surgeries, and ongoing caregiving expenses. It would also be really nice to take him out to the beach, maybe a tropical island, and have fun one more time. This time, I will be the one walking him, hand in hand, and enjoying the moments together.
