Hackney Cypriot Association was established in 1976 with the aim of bringing together members of the Cypriot community of Hackney, despite the cultural tensions which occur in Cyprus to this day.
We are a bicommunal organisation and our staff and volunteers are both Greek and Turkish speaking and reflect the diversity of the Association’s members and the wider local community.
Today, Hackney Cypriot Association is a meeting point for people of all ages, from Hackney and beyond.
It has been a cornerstone of the community for 50 years now, as a welcoming space where people come together for support, friendship, and vital services.
We are currently funded by Hackney Council and the National Lottery Reaching Communities programme, and we are incredibly grateful for that support. However, funding cuts are leaving us in a more vulnerable position and the rising cost of living is putting significant pressure on our resources, and demand for our services continues to grow.
We are running on a shoestring budget, doing everything we can to stretch every penny, but we now need your help to make sure we can stay open, stay sustainable, and be able to continue serving our community.
Your donations will go directly towards the core costs that keep our centre running, including:
Our daily lunch club, which provides a taste of home with nutritious Cypriot meals and a vital social lifeline for many of our service users.
Essential overheads, covering bills and ensuring our centre remains open, safe, and accessible.
Events and activities that support mental health, wellbeing, reducing isolation, and bringing people together.
Every contribution, big or small, will help Hackney Cypriot Association continue to be a place of care, connection, and support for those who need it most.
Thank you for supporting Hackney Cypriot Association.
