My name is Iuma Lotus Devi, I was born in my Mima’s house in Cambria, and 2 months ago I returned home to visit and found her in critical condition.

My grandma Gemma has battled leukemia, dementia, arthritis, severe dental pain, extreme anxiety and several autoimmune disorders for a lot of her adult life. The last few years have seen rapid decline in her general health.

Recently she was bedridden after her worst fall where she hit her head (a few days before I arrived) and she has been forgetting the limits to her capability, and stumbled a few more times, but she is making some progress in her physical recovery.

My mom, my aunt, my sister and I are currently staying in her house and offering her 24/7 attention and care, which is proving to be a full time job for all of us. We are exhausted.

We were already scraping by this last year and now we face several added expenses such as insurance, mortgage, loan payments, and utility bills. On top of as many remedies for her pain as we can find, supplements, accessible foods with good ingredients for brain fuel, laundry detergent, and other cleaning supplies, gas to be able to get all of these things, and there’s always something new.

I have no idea what the next steps of this process will look like but I know that I will be here as long as I am needed, as much as I am able, and as constantly as possible.

I am working towards finding employment in town for the summer because we need the money. but I will only be able to work part time because I need to be present with my family, and I’m already well overworked maintaining this house.

So we are really going to need some extra funds and I will be so infinitely grateful for any and all support that can come through this platform.
